Curriculum

A curriculum built around children.

Our curriculum is what we provide to help children learn, develop, and explore the world around them. It reflects what we want children to know and be able to do by the time they move on to school.

What children build here

The outcomes we work towards, every day, through play, relationships, routines, and carefully planned experiences.

Confidence

Children feel secure, valued, and proud of what they can do.

Independence

Children make choices, try new things, and build self-help skills.

Resilience

Children learn to keep trying, manage feelings, and bounce back with support.

Social communication

Children practise listening, turn-taking, friendship, and confident communication.

Problem solving

Children explore, investigate, and try out ideas through purposeful play.

Our curriculum framework

Our curriculum is the full set of experiences we plan for children so they can explore, develop and thrive ready for the next stage of learning. It’s ambitious, inclusive, and shaped around the children in front of us.

Development Matters (EYFS)

A practical guide that helps us understand children’s development and shape learning across the seven areas.

  • Built around the 3 prime and 4 specific areas of learning.
  • Helps us plan learning that’s ambitious, realistic and child-centred.
  • Supports strong foundations, especially communication and relationships.

Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets

A strengths-based approach that helps children flourish through belonging, support, positive identity and social confidence.

  • External assets like support, empowerment, safety and expectations.
  • Internal assets like motivation to learn, social skills and confidence.
  • Keeps curriculum values-led, not just activities-led.
